As I reflect on everything that we have accomplished as a firm in 2024, and throughout my nearly 25 years serving as CEO, I am deeply proud of how the firm has grown and continues to evolve to meet the needs of our clients, employees, and other stakeholders. While this will be my last letter as CEO, I have never been more optimistic about what the future has in store for ScottMadden.
At ScottMadden, we are committed to ensuring corporate responsibility guides our business strategy, operations, and culture. Our approach is grounded in the firm’s core values of respect, trust, service, accountability, and inclusion. ScottMadden will remain true to the values that got us to where we are today. We will be accountable to one another while ensuring the well-being of our employees, the environment, and the communities and clients we serve. This annual Corporate Responsibility Report details the actions we took in 2024 to address important issues that are material to our business operations and stakeholders.
We had a highly successful year in 2024 across all our focus areas. Of note, our Community Engagement team hosted several events with our community partner organizations in each of our offices. Additionally, we promoted engagement across all our employee resource groups (ERGs), including the two new groups launched in 2024—Fresh Start, aimed at helping new hires acclimate to the firm, and SynERGy, focused on celebrating the multicultural communities represented at ScottMadden. 2024 was also a year to take stock of everything that we have accomplished in recent years and determine what remains to be done. As such, our Environment and Emissions team worked with an accredited third party, Sustainability Assurance Solutions (SAS), to validate our emissions reporting methodology and identify areas of improvement. Further, we conducted our third Inclusion Survey, and the Employee Well-Being and Development team facilitated pulse surveys to check in on our employees’ mental health and well-being. Finally, our Data Privacy and Cybersecurity and Business Ethics and Integrity teams continued to focus on robust governance practices, including improving our security training, implementing new data loss prevention policies, and executing on leadership succession plans.
There are exciting new opportunities across each of our practice areas as we help clients integrate new AI capabilities and navigate potential policy shifts. Materiality Focus Areas
The six focus areas, which serve as the foundation of ScottMadden’s corporate responsibility, were selected based on the results of our 2022 materiality assessment, an appraisal of existing corporate responsibility activities, and the ability to manage and influence each issue directly.
